Use in Cancer
Daunorubicin hydrochloride and cytarabine liposome is approved to treat:
- Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) that is newly diagnosed. It is used in patients with therapy-related AML (tAML) or AML with myelodysplasia-related changes (AML-MRC).
Daunorubicin hydrochloride and cytarabine liposome is a combination form of daunorubicin hydrochloride and cytarabine contained inside liposomes (very tiny particles of fat). This form may work better than other forms of these drugs and have fewer side effects. Also, because its effects last longer in the body, it doesn’t need to be given as often.
