Use in Cancer

Avelumab is approved to treat:

  • Merkel cell carcinoma that has metastasized (spread to other parts of the body). It is used in adults and in children aged 12 years or older.
  • Urothelial carcinoma (a type of bladder cancer) that is locally advanced or has metastasized. It is used in patients whose disease got worse during or after treatment with platinum chemotherapy.

Avelumab is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer.
